In my last blog post, I have shared 3 proven success prospecting strategies for building a successful network marketing business. Some of you who are competent in technology may be wondering why social media prospecting is not mentioned. Those who have successfully built their Network Marketing organization by conducting “Party Plans” may also be surprised that this strategy was not mentioned.
The truth is MANY DIFFERENT strategies work. The key is to choose wisely which strategies work the best for YOU. Choose one or two strategies that align with your personality and lifestyle. Stick to the basics and get results.
For example, for a stay-at-home mum with young kids, attending weekly opportunity meetings can be a challenge. Doing morning coffee meet ups one-on-one may be the best strategy.
For someone who is already in a full time job or business, invitation by phone, followed by a brief evening or weekend coffee meet up can be integrate beautifully into the daily routine.
Prospecting – Online or offline?
If you are a person who have a lot of respect by your circle of friends in the real world, it is often easier to get others to review what you have to offer. You can enrol some customers and a few key leaders this way. From there, by looking after the customers, you get referrals. By helping the key leaders to reach out to THEIR circle of influence, you help them grow their business. You also grow your organization organically.
For this scenario, online materials are great tools for sharing information. Corporate webinars can also be used as prospecting tools. Instead of inviting prospects to a hotel room to to home parties, they can stay at home and attend the virtual meeting. For recorded webinars, they can even review the information at a time convenient to them.
If you are an ‘ordinary’ person, the above situation may not be that smooth. Your circle of friends often do not see you as an expert. This is why there are so many stories about network marketers chasing after their friends or relatives. Many did chase them! It is a shame!
The right way to do this business is to be a messenger who passes on wonderful products or services to others who wish to explore more. A professional network marketer identifies others’ challenges, ask questions and share a possible solution to the prospect’s problem when it is appropriate to do so.
In this scenario, third party prospecting tools and 3-way calls from a leader who has achieved significant success help immensely.
Again, online tools can be used very effectively to get the message across.
The bottom line I that – online or offline – specific skills needed to be mastered.
Lead Generation – Online or Offline?
While the power of networking and referrals cannot be ignored, I am a firm believer that online strategies can bring prospecting to a whole new level. Don’t get me wrong, I am not talking about the type of automated systems that can replace human connections. What I am talking about are leveraging on the power of social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter & Linked-In for maximum exposure of our marketing message.
Online marketing funnels are not new ideas. Network marketers just need to embrace strategies that works best for them. Typically, network marketers use blogging, video marketing and article marketing for lead generation. The downside about this is that it takes a relative long time to get results. It is considered ‘passive marketing’.
There are successful ‘active marketing’ strategies using social media as networking platforms. Network in the virtual world. Connect with friend messages, then followed by a phone call, Skype or even face-to-face meet up. This is powerful as social media platforms allow us to reach out to much targeted audience…. and it is worldwide! It works 24/7 too.
The Future of MLM ?
My view is that traditional strategies would continue to work. By embracing the online strategies, serious network marketers can achieve their desired results a lot faster!
Dismissing either online or offline strategies may not be the wisest move.
