Today I am going to talk about Brian Tracy’s tips on another personality power: Concentration.
Brian has studies and researched many successful people for decades. What he has discovered is that successful people concentrate on the goals that they have set for themselves. Brian teaches us to focus on just doing THE MOST IMPORTANT task daily.

CLARITY – then CONCENTRATION
You may recall that Brian talks about “Clarity” as the most important part of our success. Why? As we get absolutely clear about our goals, we will focus all our time and energy into our goal. Success is then about strategically doing the right tasks day in and day out to get to the competent level that Brian talks about.
Can you imagine the success that you can achieve if you were to put in 100% of your focused time and energy into your goal? Doing a whole range of tasks may be overwhelming. Yet, with strategic planning, the time and energy will be spent in smaller but essential tasks.
WHICH TASKS TO CONCENTRATE ON?
Specialization & Differentiation
This is what many people call USP (Unique Selling Point). Brian teaches that once we know our passion and strengths, we need to specialize. This means that we cannot be all things to all people. Specialization is the key. This is where the strategic “Game Plan” session with our mentor fits into the success picture.
For example, some people in our team may choose to do Network Marketing using offline marketing strategies. Time and energy may be focused in doing well in real life networking and marketing. What to concentrate on?
Listening! For example, what does ‘lack of money’ mean for that particular prospect?
Is it about the pain of not having the time to spend with families?
Is it about having to worry about not having enough for a comfortable retirement?
For another person who prefers to build network marketing online, the concentration may be on mastering ONE of the online marketing strategies such as Content Marketing.
Brain also teaches the concept of “segmentation”. He teaches us to look in the marketplace and determine where we can best apply ourselves with our unique talents and abilities. By identifying ONE particular area to concentrate on, we can get the ‘highest return on energy expended”. For example, I have discovered that I love sharing ideas through writing about my past experiences and knowledge. I have chosen to do blogging. My concentration for 2012 is on doing blogging well.
